We know that CBD works just by itself but like we mentioned at the beginning of this page, we created this product to knock out pain completely. The analgesic herbs we use pack a powerful punch. Each one has its own unique pain relieving power. Here is our ingredient list along with its interactions with pain.
Arnica – is a well-known plant with golden yellow daisy-like flowers. Arnica has been used for centuries to relieve pain and inflammation from sprains, bruises, sore muscles, stressed ligaments and tendons, and arthritis. In fact, it is often referred to as the “aches and pains” herb. Arnica plays a role in helping to improve the local blood supply and speed up healing.
Cayenne powder – is one of the main ingredients in this CBD balm and has an ancient history dating as far back as 7,000 years. Naturally anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic, cayenne pepper contains a constituent called capsaicin. The reason that cayenne works so well for muscle and nerve pain is because the capsaicin in it blocks a neurotransmitter, called Substance P (SP), that transmits pain signals from the nerves to the central nervous system. When cayenne is used topically, it can help relieve all sorts of pain, from neuropathy, back pain, muscles spasms, menstrual cramps, and even arthritis.
Rosemary leaf – is a well-known muscle pain reliever and can help reduce swelling in strained muscles. The herb has four anti-inflammatory properties, which can help calm inflamed muscle tissue and speed healing.
Helichrysum – is topically applied, and as such, helps improve virtually all pain in the musculoskeletal system: muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments. All kinds of back pain and neck pain can be helped, as can traumatic injuries such as bruises, sprains and strains. Within helichrysum essential oil, one finds chemicals naturally made by the plant’s flowers that 1) reduce inflammation and act as chelators (they can remove unwanted toxins), 2) prevent bruising and blood clots, 3) relax tight muscles and connective tissue, and 4) stimulate cellular regeneration. All in one oil! And it’s these components that work together to offer pain relief — in a big way.
Corydalis – is hailed by traditional Chinese medicine practitioners as the second most effective pain reliever after opium without the side effects as opiates.
St. John’s wort – Many herbalists turn to it to help soothe and ease pain. Herbalist Mary Bove explains that “St. John’s wort is known for helping to diminish pain” both externally and internally (LaLuzerne, 2013). Specifically indicated for trauma and damage to the nervous system whether through injury or viral infection, St. John’s wort is the herbalist’s go-to for painful issues such as neuralgias, sciatica, Bell’s palsy, head and spine trauma, pinched nerves, a post-surgical and dental work, as well as injuries to any area that is rich in nerve endings. St. John’s wort’s ability to soothe the nerves is beloved among herbalists who enjoy using the fresh plant oil topically to ease nerve pain. Herbalist Rosemary Gladstar explains that this beautiful herb is “primarily valued as treatment for damage to the nerve endings.”
Jamaican dogwood – is a great herb that’s effective for both muscular and nerve pain, both topically and internally. It is especially indicated for tight muscles where intense, sensitive nerve pain is present due to mental tension, which causes the muscles to lock up and not release. So now that you have read about what is in our herbal hemp CBD salve we recommend trying the product for yourself.
